Wayne Rooney ended his goal drought last night against Club Brugge as he scored a hat-trick last night. Rooney was back on fire netting three goals past Bolat and marking his first goal of the 2015-16 season. Man Utd had the advantage going into the second leg of the Champions League playoff, all thanks to goals from Memphis and Fellaini, who helped United win convincingly 3-1 at Old Trafford last week. The match witnessed Memphis Depay opening his Manchester United tally with a brace and an injury time goal from Marouane Fellaini along with an own goal by Michael Carrick.

Ander Herrera made his first start of the season and was also on the score sheet opening his tally for this season as Januzaj played in the number 10 role and was substituted in the second half with Schweinsteiger. Other substitutions, Hernandez came on for Herrera and Young for Mata. Hernandez missed a penalty as he lost his footing on the penalty spot. Fellaini was rumored to play in the number 10 role as Van Gaal confirmed that the Belgian would be playing up front this season. Van Gaal earlier in his press conference said "This year Fellaini will play more at 10 and 9 than 6 and 8 ".
United looked weak going front this season scoring only twice in the league out of which Walker scored an own goal when they were away to Spurs on the opening day of the Premier League. With only 3 shots on goal from the first two matches, Rooney and co were criticized and Van Gaal was urged to bring in more quality players up front. Having missed out on Pedro, United look for possible transfer targets with only 5 days left for the close of the transfer market. With Rooney back on the score sheet and Fellaini ready for a new role at the top, Manchester United would try to sign a winger who would eventually add more pace to the squad.
